DOW HILL IN KURSEONG- HAUNTED
Dow hill in Kurseong which is located about 30 kilometers from famous hill station of Darjeeling is considered one of most haunted hill station of India. It has derived its name from the word Kharsang meaning “Land of White Orchids”. This place is really very beautiful as it has many religious, natural and historical sites. But above all, the thing which attracts people most is the haunted tales about this place.
Out of many haunted spots one famous spot is Victoria School which was established approx. 100 years ago. It is said that many visitors have heard the noise of boys in the holidays during which there should not be anybody in that school. Rumors are also about a headless young boy roaming here and there, screaming of women in the forest at midnight. There is also a death road which lies between the Dow hill road and the Forest office. Death road is surrounded by lush green forest from both sides and it is claimed that headless ghost generally appears here.
In spite of all these rumors many visitors and Victoria School administration always says that these haunted tales are not real and they claimed that they have never experienced such things. On the other hand many local people reported various mysterious deaths at these places. Many visitors claimed to have lost the photos mysteriously that they clicked of about mysterious things. It is also said that there is a spot of suicides as many cases of suicides had been reported here in past. According to local authorities, more than thousands of suicides happened at this spot but in records numbers are less. People think that the reason behind these suicides are that headless boy who pressurizes his victim in such a way that victim themselves sacrifice their lives.
Many people feels that actually there is nothing like haunted exists in there and rumors are only for attracting the large number of tourists especially young peoples who always wants to explore something new and wants to experience some thrills in their life. Also people from different places do not believe in ghosts and they come here for seeing the reality and most of them do not get opportunities to see or experience that. And they remains unsatisfied and claims that there is indeed no any ghost.
The weather of Dow hill is quite unpredictable. At one moment there is clear sky and you can see far distance ahead. The very next moment there is dense fog everywhere and you will not be able to see even 5 meters ahead. This way many people lost there ways and dies in the forest by various reasons. Many people think this might be the reasons for death in earlier times when this place had started becoming famous as haunted place. Many times team of experts went there to know the ground reality of those rumors but they do not get any solid proof of that.
Whatever the reality may be but it is certain that any mysterious place will remain mysterious for some people and common for some other people. Now question arises that Why any tourist destination will take help of rumors for its attraction when it is already rich in natural beauty and historical places? But anyhow if anybody want to spend some quality time in the lap of nature with some bone chilling experience of some supernatural theories then this place is for you.
